Beryl Markham

"NPR Must Read" is Sooo Right

I heard this essay on NPR on my home from a long weekend in Portland, Oregon at the Fair Trade Federation Conference. I cried and cried (not really sure why) but this book was so inspiring, each sentence so well crafted, the image of life in Africa so vivid that Peter and I named our son after her. Markham proved every bit her namesake, mourning and missing the adventurous life in Africa as did she. West into the Night is most definitely a MUST READ and now I'm going to look for Anne Cherian's new book, "The Good Indian Wife".
